Key Stage One Year 1 and Year 2

After their Reception year, children enter Key Stage One. This stage lasts two years (Year 1 and Year 2) and will finish at the end of Year 2 when the children are seven years old.

In May of their final year children are assessed by their teachers in English, Maths and Science, and by national tests in reading, writing and Maths. Results are reported to parents with the child’s annual report.

Children in Key Stage One study all subjects of the national curriculum and religious education. English and Maths are taught separately but most other subjects will be combined into 'topics' to make learning more coherent.
