Children may choose between a school dinner and a packed lunch from home.

Please note that sweets, chocolate and fizzy drinks are not allowed in packed lunches. Packed lunches must be nut-free. Please ensure that your child's packed lunch contains a balanced meal - for example, sandwiches, a piece of fruit, a yoghurt, a carton of unsweetened juice, water or milk.

The price of school meals is £1.80 a day - that is, £9 a week. Dinner money for the week should be handed to the class teacher each Monday morning in an envelope labelled with your child's name, class and the amount included.

Alternatively, you can pay for school dinners half-termly in advance. The charge for the second half of the Autumn Term 2009 is £63. Please make cheques payable to Ashmount Primary School.

If you wish to change your child's dinner arrangements, please complete a 'Dinner Form' from the office before making the change. (If you fail to do so, you may incur school meal charges.)

Exciting news in January 2009 is that our Chef Manager, Michael Oteng, has won a competition to find Islington's 'Face of Cater Link' (the company that provides school meals across the borough).

As we said when we nominated him, Michael 'has a great personality. Children adore him. Helpful and enthusiastic; come and see for yourself!'

Congratulations to Michael, who is now appearing on school menu leaflets throughout Islington!
